Snow Globes by Martin and Munoz

I have been busy as an art instructor at the Tom Thomson Art Gallery. It has been a little while since I have had the chance to update this blog so here is a little treasure.

I came across Walter Martin and Paloma Munoz’s snow globes today. They kindly have offered the use of this image.

Walter Martin and Paloma Muñoz: Traveler 170 at Night, 2005

These miniatures draw me in. Yet again in my paper arts blog… a non-paper post.

The worlds Walter Martin and Paloma Munoz create are both playful and haunting. They often seem quite animated; an eerie contrast to the gentle flakes falling in the snow globe. A wardrobe hangs from the limbs of a tree, a man tips his head to a passing stranger, amidst the snow, a mother wearing an apron and summer dress calls to her child that has climbed too high… each one tells me a story.
